Bulls Stumble Against Bobcats

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball program (14-8, 4-6 MAC) fell to the visiting Ohio Bobcats (12-11, 6-5 MAC) on Saturday afternoon, 95-83.
In the loss, Ryan Sabol recorded his fifth straight 20-point performance, as he finished with 22 points with a team leading six rebounds and five assists. Sabol is now up to 1,102 points in his Buffalo career. Daniel Freitag found his groove as he tallied 25 points, including going 11-of-14 from the free throw line. He added four assists.
Angelo Brizzi scored 15 points with a team-high two steals and a block.
The Buffalo offense shot 55.8% (29-of-52) from the field, marking their 10th game this season shooting above 50%. The Bulls attempted a season-low 14 threes, but made six of their attempts to finish 42.9% from deep.
Struggles from the free throw line were costly as they were 19-of-27 (70.4%).
Sabol started the game off with a corner three to put the Bulls ahead, 3-0, with 19:48 into the contest, but that would be the only momentum the Bulls would have the rest of the day. Ohio's crisp ball handling and passing was hard to overcome. Ohio's lead reached 15 at the half as they led, 46-31.
After shooting just 39.1% in the first half, the Bulls tried to make a run for it in the second half. Buffalo shot 69.0% in the second half as they put up 52 points. From three, they were 4-of-5, two of which coming from Sabol. Buffalo cut Ohio's lead down to seven numerous times, but the Bobcats continued to answer to keep the game out of reach.
Ohio finished with just six turnovers on the afternoon. Buffalo, who entered the day with the fewest turnovers per game in the conference at 10.3, finished with 13 turnovers allowing the Bobcats to score 12 points off turnovers.
Buffalo had a tough time at the glass as Ohio grabbed 13 offensive rebounds as Buffalo finished with just six.
