Austin Herman joined the State University of New York at Buffalo in July of 2018 and works primarily with the Men’s Basketball program as of 2021.
Herman previously worked with UB Football and Track & Field from 2018-21 and has been a part of many successes in both programs. Herman has been involved with a football program record 10-2 regular season in 2018, Bahamas Bowl win in 2019 and capping an Associated Press 25th ranked season with the Camellia Bowl win in 2020. During his time with UB Track and Field Herman has worked with multiple MAC Champions, and Indoor/Outdoor All Americans. Herman also serves as a preceptor and adjunct instructor for the Athletic Training Program at UB.
Prior to joining the staff in Buffalo, Herman completed his Masters of Kinesiology at Michigan State University (2018) while working with the MSU Wrestling program. In this role, he helped coordinate and host the Big Ten Wrestling Championships in 2018. Herman also acted as a preceptor for undergraduate students and served as an instructor within the Department of Kinesiology teaching First Aid and Personal Safety.
A Michigan native, Herman completed his Bachelor of Science at Central Michigan University (2015). During his time at CMU, he completed research with Jon Burke investigating the impact of elevation on tissue temperatures in the ankle during cryotherapy application, receiving NATA awards for Best Original Research. Herman has been volunteering as an athletic trainer on the medical staff for the Special Olympics State Summer Games held at CMU since 2014.
Herman is a certified American Red Cross Instructor teaching CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Health Care Providers with First Aid.
Herman lives in Williamsville with his wife Jessy, his son Andrew, and his dog Cali.
