BUFFALO, N.Y. – University at Buffalo Head Coach George Halcovage III in coordination with Syracuse University and KeyBank Center announced the programs will play in an exhibition on Tuesday afternoon. The exhibition will take place at KeyBank Center in downtown Buffalo on Saturday, Oct. 25th at 7 p.m. Prior to the Bulls and Orange taking the court, Daemen and Nazareth will play at 3:30 p.m.
The Bulls and Orange have a storied history in their I-90 rivalry. The series dates back to the 1917-18 season where Syracuse won the inaugural game, 30-17. Buffalo last beat the Orange at The Dome on Dec. 18, 2018, when the No. 14 Bulls took down Syracuse, 71-59. The Orange lead the all-time series, 29-6.
This will mark Buffalo's first game at the KeyBank Center since Dec. 18, 2021, when they played the Canisius Golden Griffins. The Bulls are 15-25 in games played in downtown Buffalo. The Bulls' first game downtown was on Feb. 26, 1948, when they battled Niagara at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium.
KeyBank Center will be the host to the First and Second Rounds of the NCAA Tournament on March 19 and 21 this upcoming basketball season.
Halcovage is no stranger to playing in downtown Buffalo. During his time at Villanova, he helped the Wildcats to the NCAA Tournament in 2014 and 2017 where they appeared in downtown Buffalo.
