Men’s Basketball Adds Two Games To Non-Conference Slate

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team has added two more pieces to its non-conference schedule, securing non-conference road games against North Texas on Nov. 15 and Western Kentucky on Dec. 8. The Hilltoppers will return the game during the 2023-24 season.
Both North Texas and Western Kentucky played in the postseason last year as UNT made it to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament after winning the C-USA Tournament, while Western Kentucky joined Buffalo as one of 16 teams in the NIT field.
This will be the second all-time meeting between the two programs with the first meeting coming in 1999. UB is no stranger to playing in Denton, TX though as Buffalo played its NIT game last season on the home floor of North Texas. UNT finished the year 18-10 and defeated Western Kentucky in the C-USA Championship Game. The Mean Green then defeated Purdue in the first round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Villanova in the Round of 32.
This will also be the first ever meeting with the Hilltoppers, the other finalist in the C-USA Championship Game last year. Western Kentucky went 21-8 last season, including a 73-71 victory on the road at Alabama. WKU won its opening game in the NIT, defeating Saint Mary's, 69-67, before falling to Louisiana Tech in the second round.
The Bulls are putting together one of the more challenging schedules in school history as they will face five teams that played in the postseason last year during the non-conference portion of their schedule (Michigan, North Texas, Saint Louis, St. Bonaventure, Western Kentucky).
Buffalo will announce its complete non-conference schedule at a later date.
