Tom Owen Set To Join Men’s Tennis Program

BUFFALO, NY – Head men's tennis coach Lee Nickell has announced the addition of Tom Owen, who will be joining the Bulls for this spring semester. Owen is the third new player to join the Bulls this year.

Owen, who hails from Willaston, England, played at the number one position for the Cheshire Under 18's and won five out of six singles matches in county cup. He won many regional titles in 2019, including the North Wales Open and British Tour Wirral. He has reached the semi-finals of Great Britain Nationals twice and is the youngest player ever to win the men's Cheshire Championship at the age of 16. Owen has been ranked as high as eighth in Great Britain.

"We are very excited to welcome Tom to UB this spring," said Nickell. "He brings an explosive game, has great size and will be a definite threat in singles and doubles. Off court Tom is mature and brings a great academic background to our wonderful institution. We cannot wait to see him perform this spring!"

Owen will join fellow freshman Finn Macnamara and Baylor transfer Bjoern Peterson in this year's class.
