BUFFALO, NY – For the second time this season Buffalo's Pia Schwarz has been named the Mid-American Conference's Singles Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Playing at first singles, Schwarz went a perfect 2-0 last weekend winning both of her matches in straight sets. On Saturday, Schwarz had little trouble defeating Sibel Can of Lehigh, winning 6-2, 6-1. She followed that up with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Amira Badawi of NJIT on Sunday morning.
Schwarz is now 8-1 this season at first singles.
Schwarz and the Bulls return home this weekend for a pair of matches beginning on Friday against Wright State. UB will then host Binghamton on Saturday afternoon.
