CJ Massinburg Selected to 3-Point Championship Roster for the 2019 State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships

CHICAGO, IL– Buffalo's CJ Massinburg has been selected to the 3-Point Championship roster for the 31st annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships at Minneapolis' Target Center on Thursday, April 4, Intersport announced today. Massinburg is one of eight men's college basketball players selected for the event that will air live on ESPN at 8 p.m. CT. He was invited to take part in the 3-Point Championship after being recognized as one of the nation's finest shooters from 3-point territory.
The 2019 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, Massinburg led the Bulls in scoring and three-point shooting this past season. He averaged 18.2 points per game, while finishing with a team-high 93 three pointers, highlighted by a 43-point performance against West Virginia, where he recorded nine three-pointers, the third highest total in a single game in school history. Massinburg set the school record for points in a season with 636 and was named an All-MAC First Team selection for the second straight year. He finishes his UB career second all-time in three-pointers with 273.
Intersport, producers of the event, invites 24 of the nation's elite men's and women's college basketball players to compete in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships (eight dunkers, along with eight men's and eight women's shooters). The program showcases the dunking and sharp-shooting talents of the nation's top college basketball players during the Men's and Women's 3-Point Shooting Championships, the Reese's Puffs Battle of the Champions, the Great Clips Slam Dunk Championship and the Applebee's Team Shootout.
A complete roster of participants will be released at a later date.
Over the last 30 years, several of the top players in college basketball have competed in the College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships including: Gary Payton, Steve Nash, Jason Terry, Kyle Korver, Bobby Hurley, Michael Finley, Allan Houston, Wesley Matthews, Yogi Ferrell, Cappie Pondexter, Katie Gearlds, Kristi Toliver, Tiffany Hayes and Ariel Atkins.
