Chantal Martinez Blanco Named MAC Singles Player Of The Week

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's tennis junior Chantal Martinez Blanco has been named the Mid-American Conference singles player of the week, the conference office announced on Wednesday evening.
Martinez Blanco won both of her matches during the Spring Break trip this past week. On Saturday, she played at second singles and defeated Christi Woodson of College of Charleston, 6-3, 6-2, helping the Bulls to their first ever win over the College of Charleston. Martinez Blanco then moved up to first singles against South Carolina State where she came away with a straight-sets win over Andjela Vasic, 6-1, 7-5. Buffalo went on to beat South Carolina State, 7-0, as they improved to 7-3 on the year.
Martinez Blanco has won four straight singles matches and she is 13-5 on the season.
The Bulls will open up conference play on Friday afternoon when they host Toledo at the Miller Tennis Center beginning at 1pm.
