
UB Women's Tennis to Host West Virginia Friday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York women's tennis team will host its first home match of 2015 Friday. The Bulls will take on the West Virginia Mountaineers at 1 pm at the Miller Tennis Center in Williamsville.
Both teams enter the match 1-1 on the season. The Bulls ousted St. Bonaventure, 6-1, in its 2015 opener on Jan. 25, but fell on Jan. 31 at UTEP, 6-1. UB had a pair of neutral-site matches cancelled in Texas due to inclement weather. The Mountaineers lost to Ohio State, 7-0, on Jan. 29 before defeating Toledo, 5-2, on Jan. 31.
The Bulls' lineup features four newcomers and a trio of veterans. Laura Fernandez is the team's lone senior, while sophomores Laura Holterbosch and Margarita Kotok also return from the 2013-14 squad. The 2014-15 newcomers include junior transfer Dayana Agasieva and freshmen Doris Aleksovska, Christine Haraldson and Tanja Stojanovska.
UB will play nine home matches this spring season. The WVU match tips off three straight at Miller. ASA College comes to town on Feb. 20 and Youngstown State will follow on Feb. 21. March features non-conference matches against Niagara and Binghamton as well as Mid-American Conference matches against Eastern Michigan, Miami (OH) and Bowling Green. The Bulls will wrap up their home schedule hosting MAC opponent Akron on April 11.
In 2013-14, UB played in its first MAC Tournament semifinal since 2009-10. The Bulls' season ended with a 15-6 record, the most victories since 2006-07, and a MAC finish of 5-3.
