
Shannon Evans Named MAC Scholar Athlete Of The Week

CLEVELAND, OH - Sophomore Shanon Evans added another accolade to his already impressive week as he was named Male Scholar Athlete of the Week by the Mid-American Conference on Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier this week, Evans was named the Lou Henson National Player of the Week, the College Sports Madness High-Major Player of the Week, the Mid-Major Madness Player of the Week, the Mid-American Conference MAC East Player of the Week and the Big 4 Player of the Week.
Evans, a communication major with a 3.287 GPA, averaged 23.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 7.5 assists in a pair of wins for the Bulls. He began the week by recording the first triple-double in school history in a 76-50 win at Binghamton. Evans finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists as he recorded career highs in those two categories. On Saturday afternoon, Evans found his shooting touch as he recorded a career-high 33 points, the most by a UB player this season. Evans went 8-of-11 from behind the arc, tying for third in school history in three pointers in a game. Evans also added five assists and four rebounds in a 92-73 win over Cornell.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives
