BUFFALO, NY – Junior Justin Moss was one of 40 players named to the Lou Henson Mid-Season Watch List, which was announced on Wednesday morning. The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the Division I "Mid-Major" Player of the Year.
Moss is one of three players from the Mid-American Conference on the list. He currently leads the MAC, averaging 18.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Moss is coming off one of his best weeks of his career as he was named the MAC East Player of the Week on Monday. The Detroit, MI native set career highs with 31 points and 15 rebounds in a win over Miami (OH) on Saturday.
Moss has now scored in double figures in 10 straight games. Through four league games this year, Moss is averaging a double-double, leading the league at 23.8 points per game and is second in rebounding at 10.3 boards per contest.
Moss has been one of the most improved players in the entire country this season as he already has 292 points and 154 rebounds through 16 games this season. Last season, Moss had just 39 points and 45 boards through the first 16 games.
The award is named in honor of Henson who retired after a spectacular coaching career that lasted 41 years. When he left the game in 2005 he was sixth all-time in career Division I wins with 779. He is the winningest coach at both Illinois and New Mexico State. He is one of only 12 coaches in the history of the game to take two schools to the Final Four.
The 2015 recipient will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com Awards Banquet on April 3 in Indianapolis, site of the 2015 men's NCAA Basketball Championship.
