
Bulls Head Down To Red & Blue Classic

BUFFALO, NY – Following a weekend off, the University at Buffalo softball team returns to action this weekend as they head down to Oxford, MS for the Red and Blue Classic on the campus of Ole Miss. The Bulls begin competition tomorrow afternoon.
Due to some travel issues into the Oxford area, changes have been made to the Friday schedule for all teams involved. The Bulls will open play at 2:30 pm against St. Louis and will then face UT-Martin at 4:45 pm on Friday. Saturday afternoon will begin for UB with a game against the host Rebels at 2:30 and then UB will play under the lights as they face Bowling Green at 9:15 pm. Despite being MAC Rivals, this game will count as a non-conference contest.
The Bulls wrap up the weekend on Sunday at 10:00 am against Northern Colorado.
UB enters the weekend 6-0 after an outstanding opening weekend of play. Senior Tori Speckman, who is 4-0 on the season with a 0.56 ERA, leads the Bulls in the circle. She has 26 strikeouts and just three walks in 25.0 innings pitched. Offensively, senior Holly Luciano leads the way with a .529 batting average and nine runs batted in. Junior Alexis Curtiss is batting .476 with six runs batted in and freshman Ashton Earnhardt is batting .455.
St. Louis enters the weekend 2-2 on the season as sophomore Madeline Brungardt leads the Billikens offensively with a .429 batting average. Brianna Lore has a 2-2 record in the circle as she has seen all, but two innings of action. She has a 3.45 ERA.
Tennessee-Martin enters the weekend with a 3-4-1 record as they tied with Bowling Green in a game the previous weekend. Jessie Britt has started four games for UT-Martin and has a .444 batting average, while Deven Wilson is second on the team, batting .400. Six different pitchers have already seen action for the Skyhawks led by Kenzi Tate, who is 2-1 with a 3.34 ERA.
The host Rebels are 6-6 on the season after picking up a pair of wins over Southern Mississippi on Tuesday. Ole Miss is led by RT Cantillo, who is batting .575 with five runs batted in. Allison Brown has right RBIs and Londen Ladner is the slugger with two home runs and 10 runs batted in. In the circle, the Rebels have a pair of pitchers with sub 2.00 ERAs. Shelby Jo Fenter is 3-1 on the year wit a 1.24 ERA, while Emily Gaitan is 1-1 with a 1.43 ERA.
Bowling Green is 1-6-1 on the season picking up its first win over East Tennessee State last weekend. Erika Stratton leads the way with a .350 batting average, while driving in five runs. She has also hit three home runs. Jamie Kertes is 0-4 in the circle with a 4.91 ERA.
Closing out the week for UB is Northern Colorado who begins tournament play with a 2-8 record. Mikayla Duffy leads the team on the offensive end with a .393 batting average. In the circle, the team has a 7.44 ERA with Megan Wilkinson leading it for the Bears at 5.92.
