
Javon McCrea Named MAC East Player of the Week

BUFFALO, NY – Following arguably the best week of his career, University at Buffalo's Javon McCrea was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week on Monday by the conference. The junior forward averaged 27 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks shots in games against Kent State and Bowling Green.
Against Kent State, the junior forward scored a career-high 33 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field. He was a perfect 15-for-15 from the free throw line - the third most free throws in a game in school history. He became the first player in school history to make 15 or more free throws in a game without a miss. He added 10 rebounds, two steals and four blocked shots.
In the Bulls' 68-65 win over Bowling Green on Saturday, McCrea scored 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor and 7-of-9 shooting from the free throw line. He added a career-high 14 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. His basket with 31 seconds remaining in the game broke a 63-all tie and gave the Bulls the lead for good.
On the season, McCrea is averaging 17.1 points 7.4 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game. He has really ramped up his play since MAC play started as he is averaging 21.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in conference games.
It marks the third time in his career McCrea has been named MAC Player of the Week. It is the second time this season a UB player has earned the distinction of being named MAC Player of the Week as Will Regan won the award on Dec. 10.
