UB Tennis Shines at Local Tournament

BUFFALO, NY - Buffalo Bulls tennis standouts from past and present performed well at the recent Municipal Tennis Tournament, held at Delaware Park. Either current or past graduates from the Buffalo tennis programs won all the major titles, highlighted by Vusa Hove's two titles.
Hove downed current teammate Wojciech Starakiewicz, 6-2, 6-0, to take the singles crown. The duo then faced off in the doubles final, with Hove and former Bull Ken White (1987) beating Starakiewicz and Derek Acker in a thrilling three-set match, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4. Starakiewicz didn't leave empty-handed though, as he teamed with Fnu Denise to win the mixed doubles title with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Tony Miller and Catie Wickline.
In the women's tournament, current UB tennis teammates Marta Stoyanova and Miranda Podlas won the doubles title, 6-4, 6-2, while 2008 graduate Andreea Novaceanu defeated former teammate, current volunteer assistant and 2009 graduate Smaranda Stan for the singles title.
