Bulls Continue Action At Women's Collegiate Invitational

QUEENS, NY - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team continued play at the Women's Collegiate Invitational at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center on Sunday, sending athletes into numerous bracket finals on Monday.
The day was highlighted by juniors Tamara Markovic and Kira Golenko, who reached the "D" Doubles Final by defeating Susita Das and Alia Nour of Charleston Southern, 8-5. The victory set up a final between the top two seeds, but Golenko and Markovic were forced to withdraw due injury against Bianca Aboubakre and Nikita Uberoi.
In the "A" Doubles bracket, Tanvi Shah and Marta Stoyanova won their match in the North Consolation bracket, defeating Marina Bykovskaya and Emma Leibowicz, 8-4. Shah and Stoyanova were also forced to withdraw against Vicky Brook and Hanna Yu of Yale in the consolation final.
In singles play, Stoyanova won her consolation match in the "C" Bracket with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Lucy Jasso of St. Francis, setting her up in the finals of the South Consolation draw against Julia Prantl of Farleigh Dickenson.
In the "D" Singles Bracket, Golenko dropped a pair of matches to move into the Northwest Final tomorrow morning. Sophomore Miranda Podlas moved into the South Consolation bracket of her flight, defeating Irina Dementyeva, 6-4, 0-6, 7-6 (6).
