2010-11: Part of UB’s record setting 800 freestyle relay (7:27.67) at the MAC Championships Won the consolation race, ninth overall, in the 400 IM (4:20.84) at the MAC Championships. Set UB’s top mark of 2:04.04 to finish 11th in the 200 IM and placed 12th in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.35) at the MAC meet. Qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:35.63) at the Eastern Zone Speedo Sectional Meet during the summer.
2009-10: Won UB’s Most Improved swimmer for the second straight season. Earned first-team All-MAC honors at the MAC Championships. Reached the championship final in three events, placing third in the 400 IM (4:18.98), fourth in the 200 IM (2:03.24) and fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.91). Part of UB’s 800 freestyle relay squad at the MAC meet. Earned Mid-Major All-American Honorable Mention honors from CollegeSwimming.com.
2008-09: A member of the record-breaking 800 freestyle relay. Earned a lifetime best time and placed ninth in the 400 IM (4:23.65) at the MAC Championship meet. Also earned a 16th-place finish in the 500 freestyle in a lifetime best time of 4:58.53 at the MAC meet. Was named the team’s Most Improved following the season.
High School: Earned six letters and captained one season at Blaine High School for coach Dave Luedtke. Set school records in nine events. All-Minnesota from 2003-2008 and state champion in 2004 and 2006. Also swam eight years for Great Wolf Swim Team under coach David Bentz.
Personal: Born November 8, 1989. Daughter of Bruce and Jennifer Schirmers. Has one brother (Zack). Hobbies include shopping and music. Favorite athlete is Ryan Lochte. Also recruited by Kansas, Minnesota, Rutgers and Miami (OH). Majoring in pharmacy with hopes of one day becoming a pharmacist.
