2011-12: Earned All-MAC First Team and Collegeswimming.com Mid-Major All-American Honorable Mention awards. Part of three relay titles at the MAC Championships (200 medley relay, 1:28.34; 400 medley relay, 3:13.77; 200 free relay, 1:19.67). Won the MAC championship in the 100 breaststroke (school record 54.94), placed third in the 200 breaststroke (school record 2:00.00) and finished eighth in the 200 IM (1:49.80).
2010-11: Earned All-MAC First Team honors. Part of two record setting MAC champion relays (200 free relay, 1:21.23, 400 medley relay, 3:14.98). Finished third in the 100 breaststroke (56.32), fifth in the 200 IM (1:51.99) and seventh in the 200 breaststroke (2:05.38) at the MAC Championships. Set UB’s fastest 200 breaststroke mark of 2:03.12 in the preliminary heats of the MAC meet. Qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials as a member of the 400-meter medley relay (3:50.00) at the U.S. Nationals in August.
2009-10: Earned second-team All-MAC honors, finishing second in the 200 IM (1:51.28) at the MAC Championships. Placed fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:02.60) and seventh in the 100 breaststroke (57.38) at the MAC meet. Swam the breaststroke portion of the 200 and 400 medley relays as both finished third at the MAC Championships .
High School: Earned four letters at Freedom High School under coaches Robin Kneer and George Petko. Broke nine records in high school. Named Team MVP all four years and was the school’s first double All-American in history. Will be inducted into the Liberty High School District Hall of Fame in 2013. Also swam ten years for the Pleasanton Seahawks.
Personal: Born June 30, 1991. Son of Gerry and Debby Meints. Has one brother (Jason Hardy). Enjoys football and basketball. Favorite TV show is Scrubs. Admires his parents for the morals and values they have taught him. Also recruited by UC Davis, UC Irvine, West Virginia and Hawaii. Chose UB because of the campus, team, people, coaching staff and pool. Majoring in sociology.
