High School: Won four letters and captained one season at Mepham High School for coach Rob Kaefer. Finished second in the 100 freestyle and fourth in the 50 freestyle at the 2012 New York State Championships, earning all-state honors. Set five individual and two relay records for the Pirates. Also a member of Long Island Aquatic club program for four years for coach Dave Ferris. Won a junior national title in the 200 free relay.
Personal: Born September 18, 1994. Son of John and Karen Kowalsky. Has one sister (Victoria). Hobbies include surfing. Favorite athlete is Michael Phelps. Favorite TV shows are Futurama and Blue Mountain State. Favorite movie is 50 First Dates. Enjoys country music and lists Brad Paisley and Lee Brice as his favorite musicians. Majoring in exercise science.
