2011-12: Earned All-MAC First Team honors and was named an honorable mention selection to Collegeswimming.com’s Mid-Major All-American team. Part of three winning relay squads at the MAC Championships, 200 medley relay (1:28.34), 400 medley relay (UB and MAC record 3:13.77) and 800 free relay (UB and MAC record 6:30.94). Also finished second in the 100 backstroke (48.21) and 200 backstroke (1:43.93) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (48.38) at the MAC meet.
2010-11: Won All-MAC First Team and Collegeswimming.com Mid-Major All-American honors. Part of two record setting championship relays (200 medley relay, 1:27.87, 400 medley relay, 3:14.98). Finished second in both backstroke finals (100 backstroke, 48.50, 200 backstroke, 1:45.07) at the MAC Championships. Set UB school record in the 200 backstroke (1:44.27) in the preliminary heats at the MAC Championships. Qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 400-meter medley relay (3:50.00) at the U.S. Nationals in August.
2009-10: Earned UB’s Top Rookie honors. An All-MAC First Team honoree at the 2010 MAC Championships. Won the 200 backstroke in 1:45.23. Had second-place finishes in the 100 backstroke (48.14) and 100 butterfly (48.91) at the MAC meet. Swam the backstroke portion of the 200 and 400 medley relays at the MAC Championships with both squads finishing second. Earned Mid-Major All-American Honorable Mention honors from CollegeSwimming.com. Qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials the 100- and 200-meter backstrokes during the summer of 2010.
High School: Earned six letters and captained one season for coach Larry Moessinger at Iroquois High School. Set four individual and three relay records in high school. Also swam three years for Rich Aronberg at STAR Swimming.
Personal: Born April 3, 1991. Son of Mark and Margaret Schwippert. Has one sister (Kelly). Favorite food is chicken wings. Favorite athlete is Aaron Piersol. Lists his greatest athletic experience as swimming in the NY State Championship meet. Majoring in chemical engineering.
