2012-13: Earned the team''s Most Improved Award. Placed 13th in the 200-yard freestyle at the MAC Championships in 1:40.81 after posting a season-best 1:39.63 in the preliminaries. He also finished 15th in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles, earning season-best times of 21.03 and 45.83 in both preliminary round heats.
2011-12: Set season bests in all three of his events at the MAC Championships, tying for 24th in the 50 freestyle (21.47), finishing 24th in the 100 freestyle (46.66) and 26th in the 200 freestyle (1:42.40).
2010-11: Reached the consolation final of the 200 freestyle at the MAC Championships, finishing 16th overall in 1:43.27) after setting season-best time (1:42.06) in the preliminaries. Finished 20th in the 100 freestyle (46.43) and 21st in the 200 butterfly (2:00.19) at the MAC meet, posting season-best marks in both races.
High School: Earned four letters and captained one season at Cathedral Prep High School for coach Neil Postas. Earned all-district and all-state honors four years and was a seven-time All-American. Lettered for two seasons with the Rams’ water polo squad. Member of Erie Aquatics and East Side YMCA club programs swimming at Junior Nationals four times and the YMCA Nationals twice.
Personal: Born November 2, 1991. Son of Richard and Barbara Steele. Has two brothers (Christopher, Patrick) and one sister (Amy). Enjoys hockey and lists Buffalo Sabre Derek Roy as his favorite player. Lists competing at Junior Nationals as his greatest athletic experience and Vin Diesel as his non-sports hero. Majoring in exercise science.
