Bulls Travel to Big 4 Foe Niagara on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's soccer team (2-1-1) travels up North to take on Big 4 foe Niagara on Wednesday at 7pm.
It is the 40th meeting between Buffalo and Niagara with the Bulls holding a 26-12-2 series advantage, most recently a 2-0 victory at Niagara Field in 2023.
Buffalo battled hard but came up short in a 2-1 loss to #17 Michigan State at DeMartin Stadium on Thursday night. Senior midfielder Koby Commandant recorded the lone goal of the night, her first in the blue and white, for the Bulls in the 34th minute off an assist from Sarah Woods. Michigan State outshot the Bulls 17-7 on the night, including an 11-2 advantage in shots on goal. Junior Lexie Thompson made a season-high eight saves on the night for UB.
Niagara is 3-0 after defeating Mercyhurst 3-2 on Thursday. They were picked 11th in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference preseason poll after finishing the 2024 season with a 5-8-4 overall record and 1-7-2 mark in league play. The Purple Eagles had significant turnover as they announced a 2025 recruiting class consisting of seven freshmen and four transfers under first year head coach Donny George. Caitlyn Gratton leads Niagara offensively with four goals while freshman Julia Poissant has started all three games between the pipes, recording a .68 goals against average and .9875 save percentage. She was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week on August 25 after recording her first collegiate shutout.
