BUFFALO, NY – Zahra Amos of the University at Buffalo track and field program is set to compete at the 2025 NCAA Track & Field Outdoor Championships this Saturday in Eugene, Oregon. The senior will compete in the women's high jump, beginning at 8:30 p.m. EST.
Amos qualified for the NCAA Championships by placing 11th at the NCAA East First Rounds just two weeks ago. The senior set a new outdoor personal record of 1.79 meters to qualify, a mark that ranks third all-time in UB outdoor history. Amos will be the first female athlete from the University at Buffalo to compete at NCAA Championships since Shante White in 2013 and the first female athlete to compete in the high jump since Shelly Hamilton in 1998.
The NCAA Championships close out a strong senior season from Amos, who set a new indoor school record of 1.81 meters to earn her third MAC Championship. The senior climbed the outdoor ranks too, surpassing her previous outdoor best of 1.76 meters on two occasions.
Amos ends her career at Buffalo as a three-time MAC Champion, one-time MAC Women's Field Athlete of the Year, two-time NCAA East First Rounds qualifier and now an NCAA Championships qualifier.
The senior looks to add to her resume one last time on Saturday, with the opportunity to become the program's second national champion. Jonathan Jones won the Bulls' lone national championship in the shot put in 2015. The program has also seen 14 athletes earn All-America honors at NCAA Championships, including five All-America First Team athletes. With a top eight finish in the high jump, Amos would become the sixth.
