BUFFALO, NY - Three members of the University at Buffalo women's tennis team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Tennis Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Seniors Jagmeet Kaur and Esmee Andresen earned the honor for the second straight year while sophomore Julia Laspro earned the recognition for the first time in her career.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and they must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility with at least one full calendar year completed at his/her current institution.
A business administration major with a 3.681 GPA, Andresen put together a solid senior campaign in which she was named to the All-MAC First Team after recording a 17-10 overall singles record, including a 6-4 MAC mark and a huge win over Miami (OH) in the MAC Tournament semifinals, playing primarily at the first position. She also led the team with 15 doubles victories, including a 9-3 mark with partner Maria Glowacka at the first position.
Kaur, who is a 4.0 student currently pursuing a master's degree in educational psychology and quantitative methods, earned MAC Tournament Most Valuable Player honors after recording back-to-back victories, including the clinching point in the semifinal win over Miami (OH). In her final collegiate season, Kaur won 14 singles matches, while adding eight doubles victories, for a two-year UB total of 25 singles and 20 doubles wins.
A biomedical science major with a 3.708 GPA, Laspro had a breakthrough sophomore campaign in which she recorded 17 singles wins, tied for second most on the squad, playing primarily at the fourth position.
The 2025 Academic All-District Men's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced later this month.
