BUFFALO, NY – In a match that lasted over four hours with multiple lead changes, the University at Buffalo women's tennis team fought hard but came up just short in a 4-3 loss to Toledo at Miller Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.
The Bulls got off to a great start as Liv Roestel and Blanca Berges won 6-4 at third doubles and Esmee Andresen and Maria Glowacka battled back to earn a tiebreak victory, 7-6(3), at the first position to clinch the doubles point.
Toledo got wins at second and first singles to take their first lead before Jagmeet Kaur overcame a dropped first set to win 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 at third singles to even the match and later, Berges battled to a three-set victory of her own, 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 to put UB back on top 3-2.
The Rockets tied the match at three with a victory at the fourth position to send it a deciding point at sixth singles, where, in a match that lasted more than three hours, a late rally wasn't enough, as Roestel fell 2-6, 7-6(2), 4-6.
Up next, Buffalo will return to action on Sunday, March 23 as they travel to Oxford for a clash with the Miami (OH) RedHawks at 12pm.
