BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's soccer team (8-2-1, 4-1 MAC) continues Mid-American Conference play on Thursday with an afternoon matinee at conference newcomer Massachusetts.
It is the first ever meeting between the two programs.
Buffalo put forth a dominant second-half effort as the offense exploded for five goals in a 5-0 win at Northern Illinois on Sunday. Senior forward Marissa Foster had a historic day as she recorded a hat trick in the win. The five total goals were the most scored by the Bulls since a 6-2 win over Niagara in 2021 and the most in a league win since a 5-0 win over Miami (OH) in the Covid-shortened 2020 season. The Bulls outshot the Huskies 13-11, including a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal while also earning six corner kick opportunities. Junior Lexie Thompson made three saves on the afternoon.
The Bulls are balanced offensively, with 24 goals scored off the feet of 10 different players, led by graduate student forward Jasmine Guerber and junior midfielder Laiken Kiser who have five goals each. Thomspon leads the Bulls between the pipes, compiling a 9-2-1 overall record. She leads the MAC ranks in the top 25 nationally in goals against average (.51) and shutouts (6) while ranking second in the league in save percentage (.850) across 12 contests.
