Bulls Travel to Ohio on Thursday

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's soccer team (10-3-1, 6-2 MAC) heads back on the road as they travel to Athens for a clash with the Ohio Bobcats on Thursday.
It is the 31st meeting between Buffalo and Ohio with the Bulls owning a narrow 15-14-1 series edge. The Bulls defeated the Bobcats twice last season, including a 2-1 win in the MAC Tournament semifinals.
Buffalo celebrated their senior class by defeating Central Michigan 1-0 at UB Stadium on Sunday. Graduate student forward Jasmine Guerber scored the game-winner in the 43rd minute. The Bulls dominated the stat sheet as they outshot the Chippewas 21-3, including a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal and a 6-2 edge in corner kick opportunities. Junior Lexie Thompson made two saves on the afternoon.
The Bulls are balanced offensively, with 25 goals scored off the feet of 10 different players, led by Guerber who leads the team in goals (6) and points (17) and and junior midfielder Laiken Kiser who has notched five goals. Thompson leads the Bulls between the pipes, compiling a 10-3-1 overall record. She leads the MAC and ranks in the top 25 nationally in goals against average (.58) and shutouts (7) while ranking third in the league in save percentage (.830) across 14 contests.
As a team, the Bulls lead the MAC and rank in the top 35 nationally in goals against average (.57), shutout percentage (.571) and goal differential (17). Offensively, the Bulls lead the league in shots per game (15.1), shots on goal (7.8) per game while ranking second in the MAC in points (72), goals (25), assists (22), scoring offense (1.79) and corner kicks per game (5.8).
Ohio is 3-7-5 overall and 1-3-4 in league play after playing to a 1-1 draw at Toledo on Sunday. The Bobcats are led offensively by Iro Fakinou and Sania Dearing who have recorded three goals each. Celeste Sloma leads Ohio between the pipes, as she owns a .93 goals against average and an .800 save percentage with 56 saves in 15 starts this season.
Up next, Buffalo will have a bye over the weekend before closing the regular season with two home games in the last three contests, beginning on Thursday, October 23 against Bowling Green in a showdown under the lights at 6pm.
