Bulls Host Cardinals for Saturday Showdown

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (7-13, 2-6 MAC) will host the Ball State Cardinals (9-11, 3-5 MAC) on Saturday evening. Tip-off will be at 5 p.m. on ESPN+ with Paul Peck and Alumni Arena Wall of Famer Turner Battle on the call. Josh Whetzel ana Bob Gaughan will be on the radio call on the Varsity Network or on the radio on Buffalo 1520/Rochester 1280.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bulls defeated the Central Michigan Chippewas on Tuesday evening, 75-69. Ryan Sabol scored a game-high 24 points as he was 6-for-12 from deep in 38:27 of game action. Sabol recorded back-to-back games with at least 20 points for the first time in his career. Ben Michaels scored 12 points with 6 rebounds as Tyson Dunn added 12 points, 9 assists and 2 blocks. Off the bench, Noah Batchelor grabbed 7 boards. Bryson Wilson came up with three clutch steals in the win. Anquan Boldin Jr. played phenomenal on both ends of the court as he tallied 9 points, 6 rebounds and a steal.
In the win over the Chippewas, the Bulls led for just 4:41. This was their fewest time leading since their 76-73 win over Ohio on Jan. 15, 2020, when they led for just 5:54.
After trailing by 13 points in the first half, it was Buffalo's largest comeback victory since overcoming a 15-point deficit to the Miami RedHawks on March 3, 2023, when the Bulls won, 68-63.
ABOUT THE SERIES
This will be the 40th all-time meeting between the Bulls and Cardinals. Buffalo leads the all-time series, 22-17 (.564). In conference play, the Bulls hold an 18- 16 (.529) lead. Buffalo Head Coach George Halcovage III is 0-1 against Ball State as Head Coach Michael Lewis is 1-1 against the Bulls.
Last season, the Cardinals beat the Bulls, 87-59, in Alumni Arena. The Bulls have not dropped back-to-back home games against the Cardinals since Feb. 14, 2001, and Feb. 13, 2003.
The Bulls are 225-237 (.487) all-time in MAC games. In home MAC games, the Bulls are 135-96 (.584).
