Bulls Sweep Saturday Doubleheader

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team earned a pair of victories on Saturday, defeating Saint Francis 5-2 before sweeping Binghamton 6-0 at the UB Tennis Courts.
In the first match of the day, the Bulls took the doubles point as Esmee Andresen and Liv Roestel won 6-3 at first doubles and Jagmeet Kaur and Maria Glowacka won 6-3 at the third position to go up 1-0 in the match.
After the Red Flash earned wins at first and third singles to go up 2-1 in the match, Roestel responded with a 6-2, 6-4 win at fourth singles and Andresen added a 6-3, 7-5 win at the second position to put UB up 3-2. Sophomore Julia Laspro clinched the match for UB with a 7-5, 6-1 win at fifth singles and Marta Giglio put the exclamation point on the match with a come-from-behind 7-5, 6-3 win at the sixth position to secure the victory.
In the night match against Binghamton, the Bulls won the doubles point once again as Kaur and Giglio cruised to a 6-0 win at second doubles and Laspro and Blanca Berges followed with a 6-4 victory at the third position.
The Bulls then swept singles action in straight sets as Roestel led things off with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles, Laspro cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the fifth position and Deanne Choo earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at sixth singles. Then, Andresen won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles and Berges picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at the fourth position.
Up next, Buffalo will compete at the ITA Regionals October 10-14.
