Bulls Travel to Ball State on Sunday

BUFFALO, NY – After bouncing back with a decisive 3-0 win over NIU, the University at Buffalo women's soccer team (8-1-2, 3-1 MAC) travels to Ball State for a clash with the Cardinals at Briner Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.
It will be the 26th meeting between Buffalo and Ball State with the Cardinals owning a narrow 12-10-3 series advantage. The Bulls dropped the lone matchup with the Cardinals at UB Stadium a year ago.
Senior forward Arianna Zumpano netted a pair of goals to lead Buffalo to a 3-0 win over Northern Illinois on Sunday afternoon at UB Stadium. It was the third shutout in league action and seventh overall for the Bulls this season. UB and NIU were nearly even on the day in total shots, shots on goal and corner kick opportunities. Lexie Thompson was one shy of her career-high with eight saves in her seventh shutout of the season.
The Bulls are balanced offensively, with 17 goals scored off the feet of 10 different players, led by senior forward Jasmine Guerber who has four goals while three other Bulls have recorded a pair of goals. Thompson has led the Bulls between the pipes, compiling a 8-1-2 on the season and has recording seven shutouts a .36 goals against average and a .909 save percentage. Thompson leads the MAC and ranks in the top 15 nationally in those three categories.
As a team, the Bulls are one of the best defensive teams in the MAC as they lead the league and rank in the top 20 nationally in goals against average (.364) save percentage (.915) and shutout percentage (.636). They also rank in the top four in the league in corner kicks per game (5.4), shots per game (13.7), assists (15) and goal differential (13).
Ball State enters Sunday's match with a 6-4-1 overall record and 1-2-1 league mark after playing to a scoreless draw with Eastern Michigan last week. Juniors Addie Chester and Delaney Caldwell lead the Cardinals offensively with six goals each. Three goalkeepers have seen time in net, led by Grace Konopatzki who has made 13 saves and owns a 1.00 goals against average and a .684 save percentage in 10 starts. As a team, after scoring a blistering 22 games in eight non-conference tilts, the Cardinals have cooled a bit, scoring just one goal across four MAC contests.
Up next, the Bulls will return home to host Toledo on Thursday, October 10 at 6pm. It will be the team's Mental Health Awareness game.
