
Bulls End Season With 6-1 Win At Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, MI – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team closed out their 2021 spring schedule on Sunday with a 6-1 victory at Eastern Michigan, Buffalo's second straight win. UB ends the season with a 9-9 record.
The Bulls got off to a quick start in doubles with wins at first and third doubles. At one, Pia Schwarz and Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou came away with a 6-2 victory, while at third doubles, Azra Deniz Comlek and Hsin-Yuan Shih won, 6-4.
Buffalo won five of the six matches in singles, including four of those in straight sets. Comlek got the first win at fifth singles as she dropped just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Schwarz also dropped just two games winning 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Mariana Carvajal Torres clinched the win for the second time this weekend with a 7-5, 6-1 win at six.
Shih then scored a 6-1, 6-2 win at third singles and sophomore Ambre Amat won 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 at fourth singles. EMU came away with the win at two.
"I am extremely happy with the way we finished out this season and proud of this team for fighting through adversity all year," said head coach Kristen Maines. "I can truly say we are a better team today than we were when the season started and I can't wait to be able to work with this group again next year."
