Bulls Open Season with 6-1 Victory over St. Bonaventure

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team cruised past St. Bonaventure, 6-1, in their season opener on Saturday afternoon at the Miller Tennis Center. All five of the Bulls' singles wins came in straight sets.
The Bulls opened the day by winning two of the three doubles matches to earn the point. UB's top team of Gabriella Akopyan and Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou topped Anastasia Gubanova and Andrea Roque, 6-2. The Bulls were also victorious at third doubles as Azra Deniz Comlek and Lolina Schietekat Sedas beat Emily Stanley and Buse Gunay, 6-2.
After a tough opening set, Pia Schwarz cruised in the second to sweep Gubanova, 7-5, 6-1. Akopyan barely broke a sweat at third singles, blanking Roque, 6-0, 6-0.
Ambre Amat had little trouble with Stanley at four singles, winning 6-2, 6-0. Comlek followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Gunay at five singles. Schietekat Sedas closed things out with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Paula Velilla at six singles.
The Bulls are 1-0 on the season and will next host St. Francis (PA) next Saturday.
