
Bulls Drop Heartbreaker In Spring Opener At Brown

PROVIDENCE, RI – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team dropped its first dual match of the spring season on Friday evening, falling at Brown, 4-3.
The Bulls took the opening doubles point, scoring wins at second and third doubles. Simon Wibler and Hao Sheng Koay had little trouble with a 6-1 victory at second doubles, while Vilhelm Fridell and freshman D Giritharan won 7-6 at three to clinch the point. The match at one was halted at 5-5.
The host Bears won four of the six matches in singles to clinch the match. Buffalo came away with a win at second singles as Fridell won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, while junior Matthew Johnson won at fourth singles, 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (6).
Brown won at one, three, and five which tied the match up at 3-3 and it came down to six singles where Giritharan fell just short, losing in three sets.
The Bulls will continue their road trip on Sunday morning at Princeton. That match will begin at 10 am.
