BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo men's tennis head coach Lee Nickell announced the signing of Connor Doig to the roster for the 2026-27 season.
The Johannesburg, South Africa native comes to Buffalo after two seasons at Tulsa, most recently helping the Golden Hurricane earn an NCAA Tournament berth, earning 14 doubles wins and eight singles victories as a sophomore. He made an immediate impact as a rookie, going 10-17 in singles and 8-5 in doubles action. He ended his season on a five-match win streak in doubles play, including a perfect 4-0 mark in dual-match action at the third position, while also earning the clinching point in singles action for Tulsa's two against Oral Roberts in conference play.
Before college he was a 2023 South Africa junior national tennis champion and member of the South African U18 National Tennis Team. He was ranked as high as No. 2 in the South African U18 rankings, capturing three ITF junior singles titles. Doig was a multi-sport athlete, competing in cricket, soccer, golf and his second-favorite sport field hockey, where he helped his team rank as high as No. 3 in South Africa.
"Connor is an incredible addition to our Bulls family," said Nickell. "He plays an aggressive game style and will make an instant impact in singles and doubles. We are very impressed with Connor's maturity and know he will be a great leader for us!"
