KENT, OHIO – The University at Buffalo wrestling team opened up its Mid-American Conference dual season on Saturday afternoon, taking to the road to face Kent State. The Golden Flashes downed the Bulls (1-3, 0-1 MAC) by the score of 38-3 as the lone Buffalo victory came from Max Soria at 125 pounds.
The afternoon started out in the Bulls favor as Soria opened the dual with a solid 9-7 victory over Alfredo Gray. With the win, Soria is now 3-1 overall in dual matches this season and has 55 career victories in the blue and white. The Bulls however would not win another match. Justin Farmer was denied a victory at 133 pounds by Mackenzie McGuire, despite putting up a good fight.

Ian Miller, the 9th ranked wrestler at 157 pounds, also pinned his UB opponent, John Northrup, in just over two minutes, 2:24. Tony Lock put in great effort in his match with the 16th ranked wrestler in the 184 pound weight class, Sam Wheeler, losing a slim decision by the score of 11-7.
Angelo Malvestuto could not keep his perfect record in tact at 197 pounds, falling to Cole Baxter by the score of 6-3. At 285 pounds, the Bulls James Benjamin was defeated 10-5 by Mimmo Lytle.
