
SIUE Spoils Buffalo’s Senior Night

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling team put up a good fight but dropped a dual to SIUE, 24-9, on Senior Night on Friday at Alumni Arena.
After dropping the first five matches of the dual, Kaleb Burgess got the Bulls on the board with a 5-2 decision at 157. The UB senior, honored earlier in the night, improved to 7-0 on the season in duals with the win.
Rafael Knapp got a takedown in overtime to earn a 4-1 sudden victory over Dominic Lopez at 174. The redshirt-sophomore has won five of his last six dual matches.
The Bulls final win of the night came from Magnus Bibla who has become one of UB's strongest wrestlers in the lineup. For the second time in the last three duals, Bibla took down a nationally ranked opponent. Behind three takedowns, including two in the first period, Bibla earned an 11-9 decision over #31 Bryson Buhk.
Prior to the dual, the Bulls honored their four seniors, Burgess, Carter Gill, Troy Guerra and Marcus Petite.
Buffalo will be back in action next Saturday at Ohio.
