VESTAL, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling team dropped a dual at Binghamton, 26-7, on Thursday afternoon. A banged-up UB squad had four true freshmen in the lineup against an experienced Bearcat squad.
Sam Ewing got the Bulls on the board with a 9-1 major decision over Caleb Sweet at 149. Ewing got an immediate takedown off the opening whistle and nearly pinned Sweet to set the tone for the match.
Kelin Laffey also earned a win for the Bulls with a 9-5 decision over Marco Albanese at 165. Like Ewing, Laffey got an early takedown and never looked back.
The Bulls will next travel to Lancaster, PA to compete in the F&M Open on Friday.
