BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's soccer junior midfielder Mae Hunt has earned a call-up to the New Zealand Women's National Team, as announced by the organization on Friday.
Hunt joins Wellington Phoenix goalkeeper Brooke Neary as first-time call ups to the 24-player squad who will face Haiti and Morocco next month for the team's first matches since qualifying for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027.
"Mae is an exciting midfielder who we have been tracking for a while, and while she is new to our system, she is someone our technical team has followed closely, and we are looking forward to bringing her into the environment," said Ferns head coach Michael Mayne.
"What an honor for Mae and a testament to all her hard work," said head coach Shawn Burke. "I love seeing a player get rewarded for all her time and effort into honing her craft."
The Ford Football Ferns will face Haiti on Saturday June 6, kicking off at 4am NZT, before taking on Morocco four days later on Wednesday June 10, again kicking off at 4am NZT.
Both matches will be played at Nuevo Estadio El Maulí in Malaga, Spain.
Games can be watched live and free on FIFA+ and TVNZ.
