
Bulls Set Personal Records at Bobcat Invite as Galligani and Moran Rise All-Time Ranks

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – The University at Buffalo track and field program competed at the Texas State Bobcat Invite this past Thursday through Saturday. The three-day meet featured numerous personal records for the Bulls, with performances from Kara Moran and Gemma Galligani joining the all-time UB outdoor ranks.
THURSDAY
Freshman Sophia Sampson opened the meet for the Bulls by placing 18th of 42 sprinters in the 100-meter dash with a new personal record time of 12.47 seconds. Sampson's time was half a second shy of reaching the all-time UB outdoor record book (12.03). The freshman later placed 23rd of 51 athletes in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.05, falling less than half a second shy of the all-time UB outdoor top ten (24.77).
Freshman Rylee VanAlstine placed fifth of 45 athletes in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.66. VanAlstine nearly reached the outdoor record book in his debut, falling just a second and a half shy (48.16) of the leaderboard.
The Bulls closed out day one with three student-athletes competing in the women's 800-meter. Allison Newton (9th, 2:13.98) and Juliette Salazar (17th, 2:15.41) posted top 20 finishes in the field of 69 student-athletes, both falling just shy of the all-time UB outdoor ranks in the event (2:12.26). Johanna Kleiner also competed for the Bulls, placing 49th with a time of 2:19.82.
FRIDAY
Galligani highlighted day two for the Bulls, setting a new personal record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.65. The sophomore joined the all-time UB outdoor ranks with the new personal best, taking the tenth spot on the leaderboard.
Moran opened day two for the Bulls, competing in the women's long jump. Moran's mark of 5.72 meters earned 12th place of the 24 competitors. The sophomore was just over a tenth of a meter shy of her outdoor personal record (5.86m) that ranks fifth in UB outdoor history.
Bronagh Cassidy posted a new personal record time of 4:38.17 in the women's 1,500-meter. Cassidy's time was less than four seconds shy of joining the all-time UB outdoor record book (4:34.56).
SATURDAY
Moran joined the all-time ranks in the triple jump on the final day of competition. Moran's mark of 11.92 meters took the ninth spot on the all-time leaderboard, beating her previous outdoor best in the event of 11.71 meters.
Galligani continued her momentum into the third day of the meet, setting a new personal record time of 14.31 in the 100-meter hurdles. The sophomore's time was less than half of a second shy of reaching the UB outdoor top ten (14.11). Krista Perry also competed, setting a season-best time of 14.47, beating her previous best by nearly half of a second (14.91).
Michael Parks competed in the men's 110-meter hurdles, placing 37th with a time of 14.87. Parks' time was four-tenths of a second shy of his personal record in the event (14.47).
The Buffalo women closed out the Bobcat Invite with the 4x400-meter relay and a time of 3:50.48. Kleiner, Salazar, Newton and Sampson ran the Bulls fastest time since 2023.
