OXFORD, Ohio – The 2021 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships came to a close on Saturday evening. The University at Buffalo track men's team racked up 85.5 points, good for fifth place. On the women's side, the Bulls finished 10th while earning 42.5 points.
Brandon Burke would earn his second gold medal of the 2020-21 academic year as he won the men's high jump. Just like the MAC indoor championships, Burke would stand atop the podium as he jumped a height of 2.20-meters. He also set the new UB all-time outdoor high jump record.
Benjamin Cardamone would break one the oldest UB school records in the 5,000-meter run as he would pass Jerimie Slick (14:14.54) who set the school record in 2003. Cardamone would take home the bronze medal with a time of 14:13.78.
The women's 4x100-meter dash team would steal the silver medal with a time of 46.28-seconds, narrowly edging the squad from Northern Illinois by .29-seconds. The Bulls squad consisted of Travasia Singletary, Antoinette Miller, Amy Villarini and Priscilla Faa.
"We had several individual successes and personal best and it was great to see the improvement over the course of the season," stated Head Coach Vicki Mitchell. "Much like the indoor championships, our team results are not to our expectation, but we are very proud of the individual accomplishments made this season. We are looking forward to the NCAA East Regional Prelims at the end of the month."
