Bulls Fall 5-2 To Toledo

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Toledo on Tuesday at the UB Tennis Courts. It was Buffalo's first outdoor home match of the year and the first time they have played on the UB Tennis Courts since the Fall of 2019.
The Rockets took the opening doubles point with wins at one and three, taking the early 1-0 lead. The Bulls claimed the first victory in singles as sophomore Azra Deniz Comlek won at fifth singles, 6-3, 6-2. A Toledo win at two put them back ahead, but UB again tied the match up at fourth singles as junior Hsin-Yuan Shih won in straight sets, 7-5, 6-0.
The final three matches all went into three sets with Buffalo winning the first set at one and six. At second singles, Gabriella Akopyan lost her first set 6-4, but then she won the second 6-3. Akopyan lost the third, 6-2, which put the Rockets back ahead.
Toledo clinched the match at first singles as Cassie Alcala won the final two sets, 6-3, 6-2. At sixth singles, Toledo's Shalini Tallamraju won her final two sets by identical 6-2, 6-2 marks.
With their four-match homestand complete, the Bulls will hit the road this weekend beginning on Friday afternoon at Miami (OH).
