
Brandon Burke Claims Seventh Place in the High Jump at the NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. β University at Buffalo high jumper Brandon Burke was awarded All-American honors Friday afternoon as the senior placed seventh in a very competitive field of 16 high jumpers from top programs across the country.
Burke, the 2021 Mid-American Conference High Jump Champion and MAC Co-Men's Field Athlete of the Year,Β jumped a height of 2.18-meters (7'-01.75") at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. He is the first Bull to compete in the high jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships. The only other Bull to compete in the high jump was UB's first All-American in Shelly Hamilton at the 1998 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
"I'm happy, but also disappointed, as I know I have even more," stated All-American Brandon Burke. "I'm looking forward to the outdoor season!"

"Brandon did an amazing job handling the pressure of NCAA championships," Jumps and Assistant Coach Nick Collins stated. "We know he'll continue to improve, but we're very pleased with his first All-American performance!"

"Brandon's performance was incredible," Head Coach Vicki Mitchell stated. "He handled his first NCAA Championship like an experienced veteran. I am very happy for and proud of both Brandon and Coach Collins. All-American honors is a very elite accomplishment."
Burke will return to competition as the Bulls will ramp up for the outdoor season. Their first outdoor season since the spring of 2019 since last year's season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
