BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team will open their 2021-22 season on Tuesday night against Big 4 foe Canisius. • The University at Buffalo women's basketball team will open their 2021-22 season on Tuesday night against Big 4 foe Canisius.
• This is the 49th meeting between Buffalo and Canisius with the Golden Griffins owning a 30-18 series edge. UB has won the past eight meetings, most recently an 87-45 at Koessler Center last season.
• Buffalo defeated Daemen 98-43 in an exhibition contest on Thursday. Four Bulls scored in double figures and all 10 players who saw action found the scoring column.

• The Canisius Golden Griffins played just five games in a Covid-shortened 2020-21 season. Tuesday's game is the season opener for Canisius.
• The Golden Griffins return four of their top five scorers from a season ago, led by sophomore guard Dani Haskell.
• Haskell averaged 11.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. Junior Shaunae Brown will look to be a factor as well this season after averaging 9.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and a team-best 3.6 assists per game last year.
• Canisius was picked to finish 11th in the preseason Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference poll.
• Sahar Nusseibeh was named the 10th head coach in Canisius women's basketball program history on July 23. She has 12 of Division I coaching experience, most recently as an assistant coach at Miami (OH). Prior to joining the Redhawks' staff, she spent three seasons as the associate head coach at Manhattan College. She also spent three seasons as an assistant at Bowling Green.
EXHIBITION GAME RECAP: DAEMEN
• The University at Buffalo women's basketball team took an early lead and never looked back as four Bulls scored in double figures in a 98-43 victory over Daemen on Thursday evening at Alumni Arena.
• UB showed its depth as well as all 10 players who saw action found the scoring column on the day.
The Bulls were led by junior Dyaisha Fair who scored 20 points to go along with five rebounds and eight assists. Redshirt fifth year Summer Hemphill flirted with a double-double as she finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
