McBryde Named Academic All-MAC

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo wrestler Muhamed McBryde was named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Wrestling team on Monday, the conference announced. McBryde, a senior, is a sociology major with a 3.21 grade point average.
At 174 lbs., McBryde posted an overall record of 8-10 this season. He was 7-8 in dual matches and 2-5 in the MAC. He helped lead the Bulls to an overall record of 10-9 – their most wins since the 2003-04 season.
"This is a great honor for Muhamed," head coach John Stutzman said. "He has been a leader on and off the mat and in the classroom."
It is the first time McBryde has been named to the Academic All-MAC team.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments for the current season are only considered.
