Bulls Conclude Regular Season by Hosting #20 Northern Iowa on Friday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling team will close out the regular season by hosting 20th-ranked Northern Iowa on Friday night at Alumni Arena. The Bulls have been red-hot lately, coming off wins against Binghamton and Northern Illinois last weekend.
The Bulls are 10-8 overall and 2-5 in conference action. The 10 wins are the most by a UB squad since going 12-5 in 2003-04. UB's 10 wins are one more than its last three seasons combined. The Bulls will be looking for their third conference win of the year. It would match their most ever since joining the Mid-American Conference in 1998.
With a record of 18-9, Kyle Akins has moved into the 33rd spot in the latest WrestlingReport national rankings. The redshirt-freshman is 11-6 in duals and 2-5 in the MAC this season.
Akins will have a tough test as he will likely face Dylan Peters who is ranked fifth in the nation. Peters is one of six Panthers in the national rankings. Josh Alber (133) is ranked 13th; Trevor Jauch (141) is ranked 28th; Bryce Steiert (157) is ranked 23rd; Cooper Moore (165) is ranked 19th; and Blaize Cabell (HWT) is ranked 15th.
