BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York women's soccer team (4-3-1, 0-0-0 MAC) put in an valiant effort on Friday night on the road against one of the best teams in the country but fell just short, losing 1-0 in overtime. The Bulls defense had a strong game against #7 West Virginia but an UB own goal was the difference in the match in the 97th minute.

- The Short Story: Despite a career-high 10 save effort from goalkeeper Laura Dougall, the University at Buffalo women's soccer team was defeated by #7 West Virginia, 1-0, in overtime. The Mountaineers saw their cross knocked into the open UB goal by a Buffalo defender to give them the victory.

How It Happened
- The Mountaineers jumped out to a quick start as they had two shots blocked before Laura Dougall made a nice save on Michaela Abam in the fifth minute.
- In the ninth minute, Dougall was aksed to make another save and she did so easily.
- West Virginia was all over the Bulls over the final 35 minutes of the half but Laura Dougall was only asked to make one more save.
- In the 53rd minute, Laura Dougall made back-to-back huge saves to keep the game tied. Dougall turned away the first chance and she punched the rebound shot out of bounds.
- 63rd, Dougall makes a diving save to deflect the ball off the post and out of bounds, keeping the game scoreless.
- Jackie Hall made a huge play just a minute later as she deflected away a dangerous chance from in close by Michaela Abam.
- The Mountaineers were given a yellow card in the 68th minute but Jackie Hall's free kick from just outside the box went high of the goal.
- In the 71st minute Laura Dougall was forced to make another big save and then in the 75th minute the UB defense blocked away a dangerous free kick opportunity from West Virginia.
- West Virginia had the best chance of the first overtime in the 93rd minute as Michaela Abam was robbed from in close by Laura Dougall as she used her left hand to push the ball just wide.
- In the 96th minute, freshman Brianna Shingary made a huge defensive play to kick the ball out of bounds and prevent the game-winning marker as the WVU player dribbled in all alone on Dougall.
- The Bulls valiant effort came to an end in the 97th minute as West Virginia saw their cross get knocked into the Buffalo net by one of the UB defenders, giving the Mountaineers the 1-0 overtime victory.
