
Nate Rose To Compete In The World Wrestling Championships

BUFFALO, NY - Incoming freshman Nate Rose of the University at Buffalo wrestling team has earned the opportunity to compete in the 2015 World Wrestling Championships that are being held in Las Vegas, NV from September 7-12. Rose will be wrestling for his home country, Trinidad and Tobago, in the World Championships in the freestyle.
"This is a great opportunity for Nate to compete with and alongside the best wrestlers in the world," said head coach John Stutzman. "Nate has set high expectations for himself and one of them is to win an Olympic Medal one day for his home country. He has been training here at UB alongside our college guys throughout the summer and has been progressing nicely. In addition, Coach Justin Grant has done a great job helping him prepare for the challenge ahead."
The tournament is truley the most important sporting competition in the world of wrestling, as it will be a qualification event for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. Rose will be able to wrestle against the best grapplers in the world.
Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Rose came to the United States when he was twelve years old. He then went on to wrestle at The Eagle Academy for Young Men, becoming the first two-time NY State Champion in PSAL history. For his career, he accumulated over 130 career wins, Eagle Academy's all-time wins leader, and was a NSCHA All-American and a Junior Freestyle All-American during his senior season.
Projected as a 197-pounder, Rose is aiming to help the Bulls improve on their five win campaign from a season ago.
