BUFFALO, NY – Head wrestling coach John Stutzman completed his coaching staff on Monday, announcing the addition of Josh Roosa and Justin Grant. Roosa will come to the Bulls an assistant coach while Grant will be a volunteer assistant under Stutzman next season.
"We are extremely lucky to be able to add these two loyal individuals to our staff," stated Stutzman. "Our program is built with loyalty and we are very excited for what the future holds for the UB wrestling program with the addition of these two men."
Roosa joins the coaching staff after a very successful four-year career at Bloomsburg in which he earned a top-20 ranking in each campaign. Roosa was a four-year starter for Stutzman while a member of the Huskies and earned a third place finish at the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Championships at 149-pounds as a senior. For his collegiate career, Roosa went 40-25 with three pins while leading the Huskies to a third place EWL finish during his senior season.
"Josh and I have known each other for a long time as I recruited and coached him at Bloomsburg," said Stutzman. "He has a familiarity with my coaching philosophies and will be a great asset for this program. He will bring a lot of energy to the room, which will only add to the continued progression of this program."
Grant comes to Buffalo following a superb three-year career at Bloomsburg University where he wrestled for Stutzman for two seasons. He graduated this year with a career record of 55-15 while earning two trips to the NCAA Championships at the 285-pound weight class. Grant is a two-time EWL runner-up along with a 2012 Olympic Trials participant while a member of the Huskies. He also earned two All-American honors following a seventh place finish at the US Open Freestyle Championships and a sixth place finish at the University Freestyle Nationals this season. Grant will continue to train for the 2016 Olympic Trials while assisting the Bulls heavyweights.
"Justin brings a winning mentality to our program as he has won throughout his career," Stutzman said of Grant. "He will continue to train here and I am very excited about what he brings to our program. He brings a very positive energy to the room and trains at a high level which will only help our heavyweights develop into premier competitors."
The Bulls will open up their 2014-15 slate with a road dual on Sat., Nov. 1 against Campbell University.
