Tony Lock Commits to Wrestle at Buffalo

BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo coaching staff continued its early recruiting period with another high-profile commitment from a New York State standout. The Bulls announced the signing of Pioneer High School senior Tony Lock, a state championship runner-up who also has extensive national experience and a work ethic that has impressed the UB staff.
"It's a nice to have a combination of wrestling credentials with a strong high school academic background. We're pleased to have him coming to UB next year," said head coach Jim Beichner. "We need more depth at the upper weight and Tony gives us that. His coaches love his work ethic and his coaches let us know that Tony is one of the hardest - if not the hardest - workers he has ever had. We're looking for people with that sort of attitude, and he's just a class kid."
In addition to his second place finish in the state tournament, Lock was an All American at the NHSCA in 2009. Last season, a tough loss kept him off the podium again but Lock still finished in the top 12 nationally. Beichner says he is pleased with the signings in the early period and credits recruiting coordinator and assistant coach Matt Lackey for two solid commitments.
"(Lackey) is our new recruiting coordinator and in my eyes he's 2-for-2 now," Beichner said. "He has come in and signed two of the finest wrestlers in New York State with Chris Nevinger and now with Tony Lock. Both are hard workers and good kids."
Lock hopes to major in physical therapy and is projected to compete at either 174 or 184 pounds.
