BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball Head Coach Scott Smith announced two more incoming freshmen on Tuesday afternoon. The Bulls now have four incoming freshmen.
Soleil Rancourt and Nienke Trossel will join Anaya Cole (Aukland University of Technology), Abbie Willis (Western Carolina), Navaeh Smith (East Texas A&M), Hailey Campagna (Mississippi State), Abisola Adebayo and Angelina Siepierski on the fall roster.
Soleil Rancourt // Outside Hitter // Patriot High School // Bristow, Va.
The incoming freshman heads to Buffalo with numerous athletic honors to go with her academic accolades. Rancourt was a two-time First-Team All-State selection in 2024 and 2025, as she was a four-time All-District honoree. In her career, she tallied over 1,000 kills as she took her high school program to States in consecutive seasons. Off the court, she earned Academic Excellence honors all four years at Patriot.
"Soleil is coming to UB from one of the strongest, most successful clubs in the US and will be rounding out a strong group of pins who can play on either the left or rightside," state Head Coach Scott Smith. "While we anticipate her playing mostly as an opposite, she has a strong work ethic and skill set that could open doors for her later on. Soleil's leadership and maturity is what really stood out to us through the recruiting process beyond the obvious height and ability that she brings to the court!"
Nienke Trossel // Middle Blocker // Sint Bonifatiuscollege // Utrecht, Netherlands
The Netherlands native currently plays for the Meerdervoort VV Utrecht Dames 1 program. Trossel represented the Netherlands on the international stage. During her career, she played in the European Championship in Serbia. While representing her home country, she played in four international tournaments.
"Nienke will bring additional depth to our middle position," added Smith. "She has invaluable experience playing in the highest division in the Netherlands as well as previous experience with the Dutch U17 National team. She is a strong attacker, but she really excels as a blocker. Being a well-balanced middle blocker will immediately allow her to contribute to the program."
