Women’s Basketball Resumes MAC Play at Bowling Green

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's basketball team returns to Mid-American Conference action on Tuesday at Bowling Green at 7pm.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Brad Woznicki (play-by-play) and Samantha Momeyer (color) announcing and can be heard on 1520 AM and the Varsity Network with Vinnie Christiano III on the call.
This is the 56th overall meeting between Buffalo and Bowling Green with the Falcons owning a slim 28-27 advantage. The Bulls won a trio of meetings last season, most recently in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals.
Buffalo fell to Louisiana Monroe 73-64 in the second game of the MAC-SBC Challenge on Saturday afternoon. The Bulls had a trio of freshmen in double figures on the day, led by Meg Lucas who scored 17 points to go with eight rebounds. Aniya Rowe scored 15 points while adding seven rebounds, three assists and three steals and Diann Jackson scored in double figures for the second straight game with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Rowe leads the Bulls offensively, averaging 13.2 points per game. She has scored in double figures 13 times and leads UB in three-point field goal percentage (.361), assists (77) and minutes played (29.9) while also ranking seventh in the league in steals per contest (2.0). Lucas is second in the MAC and ranks 34th nationally in rebounding (9.8 rpg). The Bulls are second the MAC and rank 40th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game (14.4) while also ranking third in the league in three-point field goal defense (.295). UB has started four freshmen in five straight games and has started three rookies 11 times. They are one of two teams in the MAC to have a rookie leading them in minutes played.
Bowling Green is 12-11 overall and 4-7 in league play after defeating Coastal Carolina 93-82 in the MAC-SBC Challenge on Saturday. The Falcons are led offensively by preseason All-MAC selection who is averaging 13.9 points and 3.2 assists per game. Junior Johnea Donahue is also averaging in double figures at 11.8 points per contest while leading the team in assists (3.9 apg) and Lauren Gerken (8.8 ppg) is also a main contributor. Donahue leads the MAC and ranks fifth nationally in steals per game (4.0).
As a team, Bowling Green leads the MAC and ranks in the top 50 nationally in blocks per game (4.1) while ranking second in the league in free throws made (15.8) and attempted (21.7) per game, three-pointers attempted (25.1) and steals (11.7) per contest and third in turnovers forced (20.7).
Up next, Buffalo will have a bye weekend before returning to action on Wednesday, February 18 as they host Ball State on Pride Night at 6pm.
